All About Us
The Tangihua Lions Lodge is a camp facility designed as an outdoor Education Center for schools and other organisations.
The Lodge is located in the heart of the Tangihua Ranges, an area of native forest overseen by the Department of Conservation.
The Whangarei Mid-Western Lions Club built the Lodge so that generations of students can experience and learn about Northland’s unique native forests.
By providing affordable accommodation and outdoor education facilities it has become a popular destination for school camps in Northland, with over 15,000 guests since its inception.
The spacious, modern accommodation and outdoor facilities make it an ideal location for a wide range of activities for all age groups.

Lodge Availability

The Lodge is available for any
one to use
Uniquely situated in the beautiful native forest of the Tangihua Ranges, the Lodge is the perfect get-away for bush lovers.
We have two lodges
The main lodge has two bunk rooms that sleep a total of 50 people. The smaller lodge sleeps 7 and gives people their own space away from the main group. With the addition of a few tents on the grassed areas, the lodge can easily accommodate 80 people.
The dinning room area can fit 80 people, and the commercial grade kitchen has everything you need to feed them all.
There are a wide range of bush type activities. The Lodge is an ideal start point for tramping or just take time out in the remote native bush environment. For more information about the Lodge and activities available visit Staying Here or click here for contact details.
our local schools
The Tangihua Lions Lodge Trust is a non profit organisation. We try to minimise costs for schools so as many students as possibly can use the facilities and we reinvest all income into the Lodge.
Hiring the Lodge helps ensure that future and present generations of students will have the opportunity to learn to respect, enjoy and help protect our natural environment. This is vital to the survival of our native forests and wildlife.

Our Range of Activities
Reviews
Schools from Auckland to Kaitaia, primary to secondary. Tramping clubs, sports groups, family events – we have a wide range of groups that use the Lodge.
We have had a wonderful family weekend at Tangihua Lodge. The complex met our needs perfectly; we were a group of 31 with ages ranging from 6 to 75 years. Although the activities for children needed active adult supervision, everyone thoroughly enjoyed, and rose to, the challenges. A great camp for those who enjoy the outdoors. We also climbed Tutamoe from there.

Ngā mihi nui for all of your help and time put in to our wonderful stay at The Tangihua Lions Lodge! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The facilities and environment exceeded our expectations and we felt as though our ‘internal cups’ had been filled!
I will recommend this lodge to anyone who is looking for a wonderful, family friendly place to re-charge and reconnect!
